Carrying concealed while behind the wheel

Seeing the red and blue lights flashing in your rear view mirror is nerve racking. But imagine walking up to a car not knowing if they have a firearm or not.

The Nebraska State Patrol has a way to keep you and them out of harms way.

“I would recommend you just basically have your hands on the steering wheel, and immediately with upon contact with law enforcement, let them know you are carry and conceal and you do have a permit,” said Dean Riedel, a sergeant at the NSP.

By law, those who have a permit and are carrying must have a valid driver’s license on them at all times. And letting officers know that you are carrying is all about the way you say it.

Because hearing the word gun can make anyone feel uncomfortable.
