Signage and the Law

Signage and the Law. Stop signs, speed limits, all are standardized and recognizable. They assist citizens in recognizing and complying with the law. For Concealed Carry Permit Holders, we are often tasked with microscopic surveillance of entry doors to ensure we aren’t entering a posted facility. Support LB-501 to require both posting and a request by the facility’s owner or their representative to leave before you are in violation of the law! How important is your privacy? How many Nebraskans have had their personal information compromised by private and public institutions? Disclosure of a citizen’s choice to purchase, own, sell or transfer a firearm is not information that benefits the general public. Whether the citizen is a firearms enthusiast, an avid hunter, or a domestic violence victim who chooses to purchase a firearm to protect themselves and their children, each of these citizens deserve protection from any form of disclosure of their personal information. Nebraska: Legislation that Protects Gun Owners’ Privacy to be Heard

On Wednesday, March 8, the Judiciary Committee will be hearing Legislative Bill 637.  Introduced by state Senator Bruce Bostelman (LD 23), LB 637 will protect the privacy of gun owners by requiring that information regarding firearm possession, sale, use, registration, permits, or applications be maintained as confidential and not considered a public record.  This will ensure that newspapers and those intent on harassing law-abiding gun owners are not able to obtain and publish this information.
