No gun law would change shooter’s mind

Let’s imagine the most comprehensive gun control laws ever written were in effect during the shooting at the baseball practice in Virginia and every victim had a laminated copy in his pocket. As the shooter approached, the copy was recited to the shooter, who immediately became aware that what he planned to do was very illegal and punishable by a wide range of severe penalties.

Do you think he would have changed his mind and retreated? This would be beyond the most inconceivable outcome possible. No gun law, old or new, is a replacement for a moral sense of what is an acceptable regard for human life. This is the underlying dilemma since the first murder was recorded in Genesis Chapter 4 committed by a jealous brother against his own brother.
