Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), said this weekend that he intends to introduce a bill that would give members of Congress the same right to carry a gun as law enforcement, no matter where they are, because they are “high-profile targets”.
Guy Relford, a gun rights attorney, safety trainer, and host of “The Gun Guy” radio show, said he wouldn’t argue that point, but believes that should apply to everyone, not just lawmakers.
“We’re still high-profile targets, but we have absolutely no way to defend ourselves because of Washington, D.C.’s highly restrictive gun laws,” Brooks told Fox News Sunday. “I want congressmen to be treated as if they were law enforcement, given that we’re high-profile targets for the bad guys, the lone wolves, the terrorists, and I’ll be introducing legislation to that effect this week.”
